Icons: Marget Stohl” Everything changed on The Day. The day the windows shattered. The day the power stopped. The day Dol's family dropped dead. The day Earth lost a war it didn't know it was fighting.” This book takes an interesting angle on the future and what were to happen in the event of an alien invasion. *ALERT* spoiler alert. In the first few chapters we are introduced to the characters Dol and Ro. These two characters are living in a post-apocalyptic future where the Lords, aliens who have taken over the earth, are in charge. The lords used machines called the Icons that stop all electrical and chemical movement. This caused over three fourths of the earth inhabitants to die instantly. As the story progresses the Sympa – Alien solider- come to collect Dol and Ro. Dol and Ro don’t know why the guards want them, but don’t want to go with them. They slowly learn that they were created by a scientist and given unique gifts to rebel against the Lords. Dol has the gift of empathy. She can see what other people are feeling and seeing. Ro has strength when he gets upset. As they guards have caught Ro and Dol they are sent to the Embassy. The Embassy is where all transactions between the Lords and the humans happen. Upon arrival to the Embassy meet others who have abilities such as theirs. As the story further unfolds we learn that they are weapons that were created to destroy the Icons. Can they defeat the Icon? Will they all survive? Will they be able to rise against the Lords or will they be crushed? This book is flawlessly written. Margret Stahl is the co-author of Beautiful Creatures. Margret has a very fine tuned type of writing. She is very descriptive, which some people find a bit boring, but it is anything but. Her descriptions of the futuristic world is impressive and truly gives you a(n) in depth review of what the future could be like. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes science fiction books. This book also has a twist of romance (doesn’t every book). Ro and Dol having grown up in a world alone have a close bond, but when Dol meets Lucas her world changes. Being able to feel other people emotions also makes it complicated for her to know how she really feels. This adds a(n) interesting dynamic to the book. |

so... if the icons somehow stop all chemical and electrical movement.... how are beings that function off of chemical and electrical process supposed to combat them.... also how do the aliens get past their own fields?
